Commercial HVAC and Electrical Contractor in West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach has changed a lot. Downtown has new office towers, more hotels and more residential than it did ten years ago, and plenty of companies have moved offices here. The older buildings are still around too, and they still need someone to keep the cooling and power working. We work on both.

Pacman HVAC Electric Fire handles commercial HVAC, chillers and cooling towers, electrical, generators and transfer switches, and fire alarm. We hold Florida HVAC license CAC1825204 and electrical license EC13006438, which also covers fire alarm work. We are based in Sunrise and serve Palm Beach County along with Broward and Miami Dade.

Downtown and the waterfront

The downtown core along Flagler Dr, Clematis St and Okeechobee Blvd has the tallest office buildings in Palm Beach County. Towers like these run central chilled water plants, large air handlers and sophisticated controls. When a new tenant takes a floor, the buildout touches HVAC distribution, electrical, lighting and the fire alarm system all at once. That is a good fit for a contractor that does all three.

The Square, formerly CityPlace, and the blocks around the Palm Beach County Convention Center bring hotels, restaurants, theaters and retail. Hotels are some of the most demanding buildings we work in. Guest rooms, kitchens, laundry, pools and ballrooms all have different loads, and nothing can shut down for long.

Hospitals and medical

St. Mary's Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center are both in West Palm Beach, and medical offices, labs and outpatient centers cluster around them. Healthcare buildings live under stricter rules for emergency power and life safety. Generators, transfer switches and fire alarm systems get tested on a schedule and the records get reviewed.

Industrial and the airport area

Around Palm Beach International Airport and along Belvedere Rd, Australian Ave and Okeechobee Blvd west of Interstate 95, there are warehouses, distribution buildings, service companies and flex space. Three phase power, equipment circuits, warehouse ventilation and office HVAC. A lot of these buildings are older and have been through several tenants.

What we do in West Palm Beach

  • Chiller plant and cooling tower maintenance for office towers and hotels

  • Commercial HVAC repair, rooftop and split system replacement

  • Electrical service upgrades, panels, switchgear and tenant improvements

  • Generator installation, transfer switches and NFPA 110 testing

  • Fire alarm installation, device adds and NFPA 72 annual inspections

Code and the coast

West Palm Beach is in Palm Beach County, which is outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone that applies to Broward and Miami Dade. The Florida Building Code still sets high design wind speeds along the coast, and rooftop equipment still has to be properly anchored. Downtown buildings on the Intracoastal also deal with salt air, which shortens the life of condenser coils and outdoor electrical gear. We recommend coated coils and regular inspection of disconnects and enclosures on waterfront properties.

Hurricane season

Palm Beach County has taken direct hits and near misses. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and every commercial property with a generator should have it tested before then. NFPA 110 calls for monthly exercise under load, an annual load bank test for diesel sets that do not run heavily enough, and for Level 1 systems a longer run every 36 months. Hospitals have additional requirements on top of that. We help building engineers keep up with it.

Fire alarm

Office towers, hotels and hospitals in West Palm Beach run large addressable fire alarm systems, often with voice evacuation and interfaces to elevators, smoke control and HVAC shutdown. The Florida Fire Prevention Code adopts NFPA 72 for inspection, testing and maintenance. Most components are tested yearly. We do the testing and the repairs, and we coordinate with the fire marshal.

West Palm Beach FAQ

Do you really come up from Broward?

Yes. We serve Palm Beach County regularly. For maintenance agreements we schedule visits ahead of time, and for repair calls we give you an honest arrival estimate.

Do you work on hotel HVAC and fire alarm?

Yes. Hotels are a big part of our work: central plants, packaged units, emergency power and full fire alarm systems.

Can you handle a full floor office buildout?

Yes. We take the HVAC, electrical and fire alarm scopes, working with the general contractor or directly with the tenant.
